Recovering from Religion

Wednesday 25th January 7.30pm The Green House Hotel,  4 Grove Road, Bournemouth BH1 3AX
With Ruth
As the daughter of missionary parents, Ruth spent more than 20 years immersed in Christianity with almost every aspect of life being influenced by her religion. In 2012, after a long period of soul-searching and questioning her beliefs she realised that she no longer believed in God, and embarked on the cathartic process of documenting the often painful memories of her earlier life as a fundamentalist Christian.

Ruth, 2015

In this talk, she will be sharing many of those experiences of the darker side of holding Christian beliefs, as well as recounting her tumultuous journey from unquestioning faith in an eternal God to atheism. Ruth was the founder of the first 'Recovering from Religion' group in Scotland, a former Chair of the Board of the National Federation of Atheist, Humanist and Secular Student Societies, and is the author of the ‘Praying for Rain and Dancing with the Devil’ blog on Patheos.

“Join us to hear the fascinating story of Ruth’s life as a missionaries’ daughter and her subsequent journey to atheism
